Verna Mae Siner Jones April 03, 1927 – July 25, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Lafayette – Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Progressive Baptist Church for Verna Mae Siner Jones, 92, who died July 25, 2019 at River Oaks Nursing Home. Services will be conducted by Pastor Lloyd Joiner Jr. Interment will be in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery. Verna Mae Siner Jones was born April 3, 1927 in Carencro, LA. She attended Assumption Catholic School. She worked at the Old Charity Hospital (presently known as University Hospital & Clinics) as a Nurse’s Aide. After a lengthy employment she retired to enjoy her time with family and friends. She enjoyed spending time in her garden and really enjoyed seeing the beautiful plants and flowers bloom. She attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and later became a member of Progressive Baptist Church. Since joining Progressive Baptist Church, she became a member of the Sanctuary Choir and an active member of the Circle of Wisdom Ministry. She is survived by her husband, Albert Jones of Lafayette, LA; one daughter, Linda Williams of Lafayette, LA; four sons, Stan Rideaux and Patrick Rideaux of Carencro, LA, Nelson Roy and Tyrone Roy of Houston , TX and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivery Siner and Angelina Siner; two daughters, Jocelyn McCoy and JoAnn Augustine. Visitation will be held Saturday August 3, 2019 at Progressive Baptist Church from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
