July 30 2019
Dovie “Red” Gunn, of Terrell, passed away July 30, 2019 with family at her side. Red was born April 25, 1953 in Clovis, New Mexico to Harold and Lois Reynolds, both of whom preceded her in death. Dovie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She walked in this world with the light of the Lord illuminating everything she did and everyone she met. She worked at Dallas Opera where her innate ability to manage projects and enable people to perform at their best was a highly valuable asset to all of the performers as well as the performances. Currently, Red worked for Dallas Arboretum where her tender care for trees, flowers, landscape foliage and growing them enabled her to help all the visitors see the beauty in each bloom and branch created by God. Red looked at every day in life as a reflection of God’s grace written about by Solomon in Ecclesiastes 3:1 “To everything, there is a season…” and she made the most of her friendships and her life. She and her husband, Gary, were active and faithful members of Epic Life Church in Terrell where they could be found at anytime to help others hear the Gospel to help enlarge the Kingdom. She loved serving God by serving others and she was very loving, knowing the exact type of hug to give to all whether they were celebrating, grieving, hoping or visiting! She had the incredible talent for making everyone feel just like family because, in Red’s eyes, everyone was a part of the family of Jesus and His love was endless for all. She was the first person to cheer you on and the last to leave your side in every situation and her beauty, both inside and out, will be treasured by all whose lives she touched. She leaves to continue her legacy of unconditional love her husband, Gary Benjamin Gunn; children: Ginger Belle Fulcher and husband, Rick, Grace Beth Gunn-Peralez and husband, Greg; grandchildren: Britani, Jeffrey Benjamin, and Brandon; great grandchildren: Reegin, Alexandria and Liam as well as other extended family, church family and a host of friends who loved her and will miss her until we are all reunited again in Heaven. In honor of Red’s love for conservation and tree planting, memorials may be made to the National Arbor Day Foundation at www.arborday.org at their Time for Trees initiative. A Celebration of her life will be held at 4:00pm, Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Epic Life Church, 646 N. Rockwall Ave, Terrell, TX, 75160 where everyone is invited to attend and share the wonderful memories of Red. I am thankful to have known Dovi when she worked for the Opera. She gave me a cutting she rooted from one of her pink roses and I cherish its blooms every spring. Lord, thank you for letting me have Dovi in my life.
