Sharon Eugenia Reed Reed of Morristown, Tennessee passed away peacefully Thursday, July 18, 2019. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Teaching History for thirty-five years, Sharon educated and inspired many young minds in Hawkins County and Hamblen County. A graduate of Jonesborough High School, Sharon received a degree in History from East Tennessee State University and a Masters of History in Education from Union College. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma professional society. She was also a longtime member of Bulls Gap First United Methodist Church. Sharon was an avid reader, a beautiful singer, and a wonderful cook. She loved traveling, listening to good music, and talking about politics. Her interesting and spirited conversations will be greatly missed. Her greatest love was for her family. She was preceded in death by her father, Theodore Franklin Reed and mother, Thelma Eugenia Carlisle; and brother-in-law, Jacob Frederic Goossen. She is survived by her husband of almost forty-seven years, Michael R. Reed, daughters, Pamela Philpot (Edward) and Laura Greene (Lance); beloved grandchildren, Ellie Greene, Taylor Greene, Sullivan Greene, and Louis Philpot; sister, Shirley Reed Goossen; sister-in-law, Samma Reed Hastings (Jerry); nieces, nephews, and many cherished friends. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. with funeral service at 7 p.m. Monday, July 22 in the chapel at Allen Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 23 in Hamblen Memory Gardens & Mausoleum.
