Wilma Joan McElheny, 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior, December 10, 2020 at her home in South Hutchinson, Kansas. The daughter of Carl Edward and Opal Ruth Dale, she was born January 21, 1934 in Hutchinson, Kansas. She was a dedicated homemaker for her family. Wilma was an avid gardener – she could make anything grow! She had a vast collection of cookie jars and always had an eye out for more. She loved to bake with her grandson and cook for her family. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch watching and feeding the squirrels in her yard. The most important parts of her life were her relationship with her Lord, family, friends, and, her flowers. On June 9, 1951 she married Maynard George McElheny, in Hutchinson, Kansas. He preceded her in death on May 2, 2000. Survivors include: 5 children, Debra (Curtis) Shankle, Cheryl (Ben) Newell, Randy (Vicky) McElheny, Susan (Greg) Rickett, Christina Walters; 1 daughter in law, Valorie McElheny; 2 brothers, Edwin and Nolan Dale; 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and, 17 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, Bill, Lawrence, and Marion; 1 son, Timothy; 1 son in law Gary Walters. Per her request cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held December 19, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 4815 E. 4 th Street, Hutchinson, Kansas.
