Bobbie’s Obituary Bobbie Whitaker Colson, age 87, passed away Dec. 6, 2020. Services are scheduled for 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, at Macedonia Baptist Church in McIntyre, with Rev. Bill Kitchen officiating. Burial will follow at Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. Mrs. Colson and her twin brother, Billy Whitaker, were born April 29, 1933, to Harry and Henry Delle Whitaker in the McIntyre family home, originally the home of her grandparents, Henry and Pearl Parker. Mrs. Colson graduated from Wilkinson County High School in 1951. In 1955 she married Jasper Lon (J.L.) Colson. In that union, she discovered her calling as a loving Christian wife, mother and grandmother for the next 65 years. Mrs. Colson served as a purchasing agent for Liberty Memorial Hospital in Hinesville for 21 years. During their marriage, Mrs. Colson and her husband lived a number of years in several of Georgia’s small towns and cities, including Bainbridge, Statesboro, Hinesville, and Ludowici. In 2012, Mrs. Colson returned with her husband to the “old house” to live out her final years. She was preceded in death by her twin brother, Billy Whitaker; her parents, Harry and Henry Delle Whitaker; and her grandparents, Henry and Pearl Parker and Gus and Clara Whitaker. She is survived by her husband, J.L. Colson; her son Jasper Keith (Margaret) Colson; her daughter Elaine (Alvin) Simpson; her grandson, Jasper Benjamin (Lauren) Colson; her granddaughter, Brooke (Jonathan) Roberts; her great-granddaughters Molly and Haley Colson; her great-grandsons Benjamin Roberts and Jasper Briggs Colson; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2020, at Macedonia Baptist Church in McIntyre. Moores Funeral Home & Crematory has charge of arrangements.
