William R. Schmerbeck, 80, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Lakemont, died Thursday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Funk) Schmerbeck. He married Delellis “Dee” Long in 1962. Surviving are his wife of 57 years; a daughter, Joy C. Frank and husband, Steve, of Duncansville; a son, William Jr. and wife, Amy, of Lakemont; a grandson, Bradley J. Sottile and wife, Tiffany, of Pleasant Gap; two great-grandchildren: Aubrey and Luke; and a brother, Richard and wife, Teresa, of Altoona. William retired after 35 years as a truck driver. He was a life member of the Lakemont Fire Company and a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Lakemont Friends will be received from 1:00 to 3:00 and 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2019, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a vigil service will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Lakemont, Monsignor Michael A. Becker celebrant. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Lakemont Volunteer Fire Company or St. John’s Catholic Church. sorgefuneralhome.com
