Thomas Patrick Riley (“TP”), age 69, was killed in a motorcycle accident in Boise City, Oklahoma on Friday, July 12, 2019. Pat, an Army “brat, “ was born in Ft. Belvoir, VA to John and Jonelle Riley on July 6, 1950 but Texas was always Home to him. Pat is predeceased by his parents and oldest brother, Bill Riley and sister, Jeanne Collins Helbock. Pat is survived by his wife of 35 years, Joan T. Riley, his children, Billy Malone, Becky Malone and Dennis Patrick Riley. Also included are four grandchildren, Dominique Riley, Chelsea and Chloe Malone and Micah Riley, his brother Karl George Riley and wife, Cheryl, and by his extended family, Bob Helbock, Lee Anne Collins Sullivan and husband, Rob Sullivan, Carolanne Mahoney, Annmarie Mahoney and Robbie Dow and family. Pat is also survived by his beloved cousins, and by nieces and nephews to include, Karl, JoAnn, Craig and Carissa Riley, Robert Joseph and Bridget Helbock, and Kelly, Robert Raymond and Kevin Sullivan. After graduating from Marble Falls HS, Pat entered the United States Army. He served in the 101st Airborne in Hue, Viet Nam in the Military Police, earning among others, a Purple Heart, in the 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg, NC in the Military Police and in Corp Physical Security. Pat became a member of the Fayetteville Police Department in 1981 earning the rank of Sergeant. Pat especially loved his time serving as a Motorcycle Officer. Pat also obtained an Associate of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice. Retiring in 2001, Pat started a new endeavor T.P. Riley Investigations. Pat most enjoyed time with family and friends, his membership in the Blue Knights, travelling and riding with his buddies, whether just down to Melvin’s in Elizabethtown for a burger or cross country to Texas. Pat was a PATRIOT. He loved our country deeply. Pat lived his life Out Loud with joy and enthusiasm. He never met a stranger. The “TP” stories from family and friends have certainly helped soothe the grief we all are feeling. Many more pages could be filled with the names of those whose lives Pat touched but we reach out now especially to those who were with him always in mind and heart and whose bonds will never be broken~You all know who you are. In summary Pat lived and passed according to his values: GOD, Family, Country. The family will receive visitors at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home from 5-8 pm, Sunday, July 21, 2019. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on Monday, July 22, 2019. Bagpipe entry at 9:45 am, last visitation 10-11 am, Holy Mass at 11 am, Repast to follow at St. Brigid’s Social Hall . Private Cremation services.
