Thomas L. Day, 82, of Columbus, Indiana, passed away at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Mr. Day was born June 13, 1937, in Whitesburg, Kentucky, the son of Loren and Mary Hampton Day. On April 5, 1958, Thomas married Patricia L. Sullivan. Mr. Day is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia; sons, Dennis L. (Belinda) Day of Greenwood, Indiana and Thomas R. (Melanie) Day of Columbus, Indiana; grandchildren, Aaron Day, Amanda Bannister and Ryan Day; four great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and sisters, Nadine Miller of Columbus, Indiana, Irene Banks of Seymour, Indiana and Pansy Whitaker of Allison, Texas. Mr. Day retired from Cummins Engine Company on April 1, 1997 after 41 years of service in the heating and air conditioning department. He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes and singing and playing guitar in his gospel group, Sounds of Faith. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and he enjoyed studying his Bible. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; Pastor Adam Carrigan will officiate. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday and from 12:30 p.m. until service time Monday. Mr. Day will be laid to rest at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Ogilville. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
