Thomas’ Obituary Thomas Wesley Kime Sr., 79, of Howe, passed away Monday, July 1, 2019, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Thomas was born on June 4, 1940, in Sunfish Township, Edmonson County, Kentucky. He was the 11th of 14 children born to John Joseph Kime and Mary Pearl Durbin. He attended elementary school at St. John’s Catholic School and the Sunfish public school until 1951 when the family moved to Leitchfield, Grayson County, Kentucky where he attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School and the public schools in Grayson County. He joined the US Army at the age of 14. Completed basic training at Fort Knox Kentucky. He was honorably discharged for being too young. He worked numerous jobs until June 1957, when he joined the US Navy. Serving 20 plus years in the Navy advancing from recruit to Chief Petty Officer. Continued formal education while in the service and was able to complete 3 plus years of college in the field of mechanical engineering. While in the military he served in numerous countries including 66 months in Vietnam. He was awarded the Navy achievement medal, Combat Action Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal with four bronze stars, Navy Expeditionary Medal with one Bronze Star, China Service Medal, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Silver Star for 5 awards, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Cross Gallantry with Silver Star, Navy Expert Rifleman Medal and Navy Expert Pistol Medal. On Feb. 5, 1965, he married Bonnie Jean Clawson of Anaconda, Montana. They divorced Nov. 1975. Together they had one son, Thomas Jr., born June 14, 1967, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He married Kristine E. Mort in Port Orchard, Washington on Dec. 6, 1976, they were divorced in March 2000. He worked in many states and countries, for more than 20 years for several different contractors at the Idaho National Laboratory. He retired in April 2002. Thomas lived for hunting and fishing, he was fortunate enough in life to have hunted or fished in all fifty states and numerous foreign countries.
