Mrs. Shirley York Davis, 83, of the Nixon Chapel Community died Monday, July 1, 2019 at Marshall Medical Center South. Service will be Saturday, July 6, 2019 at two o’clock p.m. in the chapel of McRae Funeral Home with interment to follow in the Nixon Chapel Cemetery. Bro. Ozzie Fowler and Bro. Glendale Davis will be officiating. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Davis was born in Nixon Chapel, Alabama on December 28, 1935 to Hugh Graden & Laura Annis Dean York. She was retired from Arrow Shirt Manufacturing. She was a life-long member of the Nixon Chapel United Methodist Church. Since 1985 she has been a member of both the Guntersville and Boaz Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. She served a combined total of 16 ½ years as President of the two post. She was also a member of the District Post and served as its President for one year. Mrs. Davis is survived by her husband: Eugene R. “Gene” Davis of Nixon Chapel, Son & Daughter-in-Law: Stephen & Karen Rogers of Guntersville, Daughter & Son-in-Law: Lauren & Alan Perry of Boaz, Step-Children: Caroll Davis, Dennis & Ladonna Davis, Christopher & Margo Davis, Virginia & Phillip Prater and Elisabeth & John Demedicis, 12 Grandchildren 10 Great Grandchildren, Sister: Deanna Mozley of Nixon Chapel. She was preceded in death by her Parents: Hugh & Laura “Lollie” York, Sister: Wanda Thomas and Grandson: Adam Davis. Pallbearers will be David Gable, Robert Gable, Nathan Perry, Jakob Demedicis, Tanner Demedicis, Bentlee Davis and Nick Prater.
