Sammy J. Myers, age 75, of Newport passed away Friday, July 5, 2019 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church and a Veteran of the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Pauline Myers, brother, Leonard Myers; sister, Rosie Myers; brother-in-law, Earl Park, father-in-law, Hugh McMahan and mother-in-law, Octa McMahan; nephew, Chip McMahan: niece, Maria Myers and her son, Mikey Myers. He is survived by his wife, Linda Myers of Newport; son, Richie (Kristy) Myers of Cosby; grandchildren, James and Jacob Myers of Newport; special brother-in-law, Ricky McMahan; brothers, Freddie (Beverly) Myers, Jr. of Newport and Benny (Eva) Myers of Newport; sister Marilyn (Jeff) Henderson of Parrottsville; special sisters-in-law, Wilma Park and Debbie McMahan; brother-in-law, Jimmy McMahan; special nieces, Carrie and Chelsie McMahan; and other nieces, nephews, family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm Monday, July 8, 2019 at Manes Funeral Home with Rev. Alvin Watts and Rev. John Hill officiating. Burial will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Union Cemetery. The family will receive friend from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Monday prior to funeral service.
