Moriah Baptist Church Thursday morning, July 11, 2019, Mrs. Rupert Ramsey Steed departed this earthly life. Rupert was the sixth of nine children born to Julian and Ida Ramsey. She began her Christian life at a very early age at the Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Appling, Georgia. After moving to Atlanta, Georgia with her husband, Rupert joined the Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Atlanta. Jimmie preceded her in eternal rest in April 2012. The union with Jimmie produced three children: Julius Leon (Fayetteville, Georgia), Helen Evett Brady (Ellenwood, Georgia), and Henderson Everett (Douglasville, Georgia). Rupert had an undying love for Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior. She loved God and made sure you knew it. She would always say, “The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want.” She loved meeting and talking to people. She enjoyed walking and talking with her neighborhood friends. Her entertaining humor would always have you in stitches. Rupert also enjoyed cooking. Her favorites were those tasty icebox rolls, apple, and peach fried pies. Oh my goodness, that fried chicken! It was scrumptious. And don’t forget about those delicious cakes! Rupert was an avid and faithful member of Mount Moriah for 70 years. She served on the Courtesy Guild, Deaconess Board, and a Sunday School member. She also participated in civic and community activities which included membership in the Chicamauga Neighborhood Community Club. Her shining light will be missed by her children, Leon (Val), Evett, and Everett; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a very special friend, Mrs. Mollie Wainwright, and a host of other family and friends.
