Cmdr. Roger B. Streeter, U.S. Coast Guard, Ret., 73, a resident of Benicia for over thirty-five years, passed away Sunday, after being hospitalized for seven weeks. He grew up in Greenwood, NY, as the son of F. Marion and Virgil (Mahoney) (Slaght) Streeter. After graduating from the Coast Guard Academy in 1968, he rose through the ranks to serve as the Executive Officer of the USCGS Blackhawk in San Francisco. After leaving active duty in 1976, he continued serving in reserve units until 1988. Following active service, he also obtained an MBA from Golden Gate University worked for Lockheed Martin Advanced Marine Systems for many years. In his last role as a Systems Engineer, he worked on several ship design projects. Once retired, he enjoyed playing golf, bocce and pool. As a man of few words, Rog will be remembered most for his incredible kindness and generosity to all. He will be sorely missed by his brother Robert (Dorothy) Streeter; nephew Perry (Jeanne) Streeter; niece Jennifer (Daniel) Gehl; great nephews Thomas, William, Matthew and Samuel Streeter; and great nieces Sarah, Samantha and Caitlyn Gehl; all of NY. Rog is also survived by a dear friend Jaio Tang. A Celebration of Life will be held in the future at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel at the convenience of the family and announced once scheduled.
