Robert E. “Cowboy” Jenkins, 92, of Pekin, IL passed away at 1:15 PM Tuesday, July 10, 2019 in Pekin. Bob was born on May 27, 1927 in Moline, IL to Dewey and Bernice (Butterfield) Jenkins. He married Donna DeWeese on November 24, 1956 in Pekin. He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, Kara Sullivan, two brothers, Marvin “Bill” Jenkins and Kenneth Jenkins, one sister, Llewelyn Jean Wheat. Surviving are: his wife, Donna of Pekin; three daughters, Julie L. Sullivan of Pekin, Kathleen D. (Jay) Oates of Manito and Laura J. (Mike) Gdula of Columbus, OH; three grandchildren, Ian R. (Amanda) Sullivan, Kristen (Keith) Adams and Samuel J. Sullivan; five great grandchildren, Kyla Sullivan, Ayden Sullivan, Olivia Adams, Luna Sullivan and Michael Adams; one brother, Ralph (Lillian) Jenkins of KY and one sister-in-law, Delores Jenkins of FL. Bob was a WWII veteran of the United States Navy. He worked at Middle States Telephone for fifteen years and Pekin Insurance of thirty years retiring in 1992. Bob was a member of First United Methodist Church. Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr. Pekin with Rev. Judy Doyle officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in War Veterans Cemetery in Pekin with military honors provided by the United States Navy and the Tazewell County Ceremonial Team.
