Robert’s Obituary Robert Harold Thompson, Sr., 79, of Russell, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. Mr. Thompson was born April 10, 1940, a son to the late James and Lucille Vanderhoof Thompson. He is survived by his loving wife Brenda. Mr. Thompson was a foreman for AK Steel and a member of Resurrection Hope Church in Ironton. He was a graduate of Russell High School and a veteran of the United States Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandparents: Harold and Katherine Vanderhoof; and brother: Michael G. Howard In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons: John (Amanda) Gillenwater of Ironton, Jim (Missy) Gillenwater of Symmes Valley, Robert Jr. Thompson of Russell, KY; two daughters: Angie Murphy of Ironton, Ohio and Robin Waller of Pedro, Ohio; seven grandchildren: Steve (Marsha) Murphy, Nichole (Jacob) Bryant, Megan Curnutte, Marissa (Jeff) Barnett, Isis Thompson, Ramsey Malone, Landon Jones and ten great grandchildren; three brothers: James (Donna) Thompson of Anthem, Arizona, Bill (Dee) Thompson of Grove City, Ohio, and Donald (Cappie) Thompson of Flatwoods, Kentucky; two sisters: Katherine (Joe) Bush of Ashland, Kentucky and Katrina (Paul) Hamilton of Russell, Kentucky and several nieces & nephews. Memorial service will be at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South 7th Street Ironton, Ohio with Pastor Terry Jones officiating.
