Henshaw, 81, a resident of Longmeadow since 1969, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home with his family by his side on Wednesday evening. Richard was born on January 18, 1938, the eldest son of the late Garnet and Elizabeth (Spaulding) Henshaw. He was raised in Chicopee Falls, attending the former St. Patrick’s School and graduated from Chicopee High School in 1956. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed bowling and golf and held fond memories of the many years he spent as baseball coach of the Tigers in the Longmeadow Little League. He was employed for 20 years by Aetna Insurance Company, where he served as a printer. He retired in 2000. Dick leaves his wife of 59 years, Judith A. (Ricketts) Henshaw, six sons, William and his wife Kim, Daniel, David and his wife Marie, Matthew and his wife Beth, Mark and his wife Darlene and Scott, a daughter, Anne Marie and her husband Brian Welch, and a brother, Thomas Henshaw and his wife Becky of New Bern, NC along with his 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren (with two more arriving soon), all of whom he loved greatly. Family and friends are invited to gather for Dick’s Memorial Mass which will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Church, 519 Longmeadow St., Longmeadow, on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at 11. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his honor may be directed to Food for the Soul Ministry, c/o St. Mary’s Church, 519 Longmeadow St., Longmeadow, MA, 01106.
