Rev. Gurney Otto Radford March 13, 1936 – July 04, 2019 Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Reverend Gurney Otto Radford passed away on July 4th 2019. He was born on the head of Huzzah Creek in Reynolds County Missouri on March 13, 1936. He was nicknamed “Cotton” because his hair was snow white when he was born. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and digging ginseng. A product of the depression, he was an excellent marksman where one bullet had to equal one kill and meant the difference between eating or not. Post-depression era, he was once observed to empty the magazine of a .22 Cal rifle into the head of rabbit at a dead run as well as the ability to shoot nickels out of the air. He loved Paw Paw trees that he affectionately referred to the fruit as the Missouri banana, goggle eye fish and the bay of dogs chasing squirrel or raccoon. In fact, he never met a squirrel he didn’t like or more notably ate ;>). But above all, he loved the Lord and devoted most all of his adult life to ministry and preaching the gospel. He didn’t put much stock in worldly things but preferred to invest in the treasures of Heaven. Gurney is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. His is survived by one brother Rodger and Linda Radford of Bismark, Mo, four children Michael and Diana (Dudley) Radford of Licking, Mo, Daniel and Gloria (Carter) Radford of Lanexa, VA, Patsy and Keith Dunlap of Salem, MO, Darren and Ellen (Wagner) of Cuba, MO, and numerous grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:15 at McSpadden Funeral Home in Bunker, MO followed by a graveside service at the Radford Cemetery. Rev. James “Butch” Hampton will be officiating the ceremony. A lunch hosted by local churches will follow the service at the Bunker fire station. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bunker Volunteer Fire Station and/or the Radford Cemetery.
