Ralph Kanowena Alapai September 01, 1946 – May 20, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Send Sympathy Card Ralph Kanowena Alapai, 72, of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, died May 20, 2019 at his residence. Born in Kealakekua, Hawaii on September 1, 1946, he was a retired heavy equipment operator for Maryl Construction Company, West Hawaii Concrete, E.M. Rivera & Sons, Inc. He was a cowboy at Puuwaawaa Ranch; a member of Civitan Club and Labor Union #368. Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. July 20, 2019 at Makolea, site of the Old Kona Lagoon Hotel. Memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. The family requests casual attire and flowers are welcome. He is survived by his sons, John (Phyllis) Alapai of Kealakekua, Kekio (Harmony) Alapai of Keaau, William (Lavern) Alapai of Kealakekua; hanai son, Leroy Funk of Louisville, KY; daughter, Courtney Alapai of Kahaluu; sisters, Ivy Kizler of California and Velma Kauahi of Kahaluu; hanai brothers, Wayne (Cami) Kahulamu of Kealakehe, Mitchell (Joanne) Fujisaka of Kailua-Kona; hanai sister, Margaret (Larry) Jose of Holualoa; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; numerous hanai grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; 1 aunt.
