Obituary Pauline Buss, 92, of Denver Iowa, passed away early Friday morning, May 24, 2019 at Unity Point Health-Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. Pauline was born on November 17, 1926, in Bremer County, Iowa, the daughter of Hedwig (Boeckmann) and Louis Hoppenworth. She was raised in Denver where she attended school and graduated from Denver High School in 1944. She then worked for the Denver Produce Company as an egg candler and also for Morris Printing in Waterloo. On March 24, 1946, Pauline was united in marriage to Elmer Bob Buss in Denver. The couple lived and raised their family on their farm south of Denver. Pauline was a farm wife and also got into upholstery, and eventually started her own business called Paulines Upholstery. Bob died in September of 1987, and Pauline continued to live on the farm until February of 2019, when she entered NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls. Pauline was a member of Saint Paul United Church of Christ and the American Legion Auxiliary Post #653, both in Denver. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, sewing, jig-saw puzzles, and collecting salt & pepper shakers. However, spending time with family, especially her grand kids, gave her the most joy! Pauline is survived by two daughters, Joyce (Denny) McGivern of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Karen (Craig) Johns of Cedar Falls, Iowa; one son, Alan (Nancy) Buss of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Erik and Amy Rod, Lindsey (Matt) MacKenzie, Brett (Kathleen) Johns, and Phillip, Andrew, Anna and John-Paul Buss; three step-grandchildren, Terri (Jay Jackson) McGivern, Carrie (John Olney) McGivern and Jen McGivern; six great-grandchildren, Cali, Cooper and Cru MacKenzie, and Lena, Nolan and Eliza Johns; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Bob; one granddaughter, Kristin McGivern; her parents; and two brothers, Orville and Les Hoppenworth. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, June 3, 2019, at Saint Paul United Church of Christ in Denver, with Pastor Craig Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Denver. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2019, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver, and also for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
