Welch, WV- Parethena H. Berman, 89, of Belcher Mountain, near Welch, passed away Wednesday July 24, 2019 at Golden Harvest Nursing Home. Born February 7, 1930 on Belcher Mountain, she was the daughter of the late Ayres Belcher and Myrtle ton Belcher. She was a homemaker, gardener, and seamstress. She was also a member of the Elkorn Regular Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Berman; son, Carl A. Berman; sister, Juanita Workman; and brother, Conard Belcher. Survivors include her son, Paul Berman and wife Lila; daughter, Elizabeth Berman; three grandchildren, Angela Davis and husband Dana Davis, Paul Berman, and Jeremiah Bentivolio and wife Michelle Bentivolio; six great-grandchildren, Hunter and Caden Davis, Valhalla Berman, Jacob, Michael, and Matthew Bentivolio; two brothers, David Belcher and wife Lydia of Belcher Mountain, and Ayres Belcher and wife Freida Belcher of Yadkinville, NC; one sister, Vivian Smith of Beckley, WV; nephew David Belcher and wife Amanda Belcher and their children, Austin, Landon and Shianne Belcher. Also left to cherish her memories are multiple nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Saturday July 27, 2019 at Elkhorn Old Regular Baptist Church, Belcher Mountain, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with The Rev. Thurman Belcher officiating. Burial will follow at Belcher Mountain Cemetery where family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
