Olive’s Obituary SEYMOUR: Olive “Olly” (Calvert) Teal, age 89, in the comfort of her brother’s home in Derby, received her wings and flew into God’s arms on July 23, 2019. Olly inspired many with her positive, cheerful outlook in joyful anticipation of heaven. Olly was born in Newport, Isle of Wight, England, on August 16, 1929, daughter of the late Edward and Christine Brake Calvert. Her energetic and selfless life was devoted to God and her passion was to teach children about His son, Jesus Christ. Whether in Church, Sunday School, DVBS, or Good News Club, Olly gave all of herself to witnessing and serving Christ. The amount of lives she touched is immeasurable. She was the beloved and beautiful wife of the late Roy Teal. Cherished mother of Christopher Teal (Cheryl) of Newport, Isle of Wight, England, Rob Teal of Las Vegas, NV and Gavin Teal (Donna) of Seymour, CT. Treasured sister of Brian Calvert (Sheila) of Derby, CT. Precious Nan to her grandchildren, Jolene Roswell and Daniel Teal of England, Rachel Buell (Ryan) of Rockville, MD, Scott Teal (Crystal) of Beacon Falls, CT and Christopher Teal of Seymour, CT. She will also be remembered and missed by her thirteen great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Palma Calvert of Prospect, CT, brother-in-law, David Morey of Wolcott, CT and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brothers, Art Calvert and Edward Calvert and sisters, Pearl Marino, Pamela Morey and June Wharton. Olly’s family expresses appreciation to the staff members of Griffin Hospital and Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care who assisted in her care since she was hospitalized on June 30th. A special thank you to Sheila and Brian Calvert for their tireless and unimaginable care of Olly throughout her hospital stay and for opening their home to her during her last precious weeks. Thank you for being a part of Olly’s life, we know she held each one of you dearly in her heart. We hope you can come celebrate her impact in all our lives with us this Saturday, August 3rd, 2019, at 11am. Olly’s celebration of life service will be held at Seymour Evangelical Baptist Church, 104 Mountain Road in Seymour, CT. Olly lived a simple life and was most happy when she was comfortable, therefore, we invite all of her relatives and friends to do the same. All are encouraged to celebrate her life by wearing light-colored, comfortable clothing in honor of Olly on this day. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Olly’s favorite charities.
