Mildred’s Obituary Mildred Anna Jantzen Dux Mildred Anna Jantzen Dux daughter of Henry W and Louise Ensz Jantzen was born May 2, 1926 near Harbine, Nebraska and passed away July 2, 2019 at the age of 93. She moved to near Ellis Nebraska as a baby and attended District 40 and 147 schools until the 8th grade. She then attended Mennonite Bible Academy for 2 years then finished high school at Fairbury High School graduating in 1944. She was a member of the Mennonite Church near Beatrice having been baptized on May 23, 1942 by Rev Walter Dyck. The verse given to her upon baptism was Psalms 27:14 “Wait for the lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord”. She worked as a telephone operator in Beatrice for one year and then on December 15, 1946 married Elmer Dux at the Mennonite Church near Beatrice. Five children were born to this union. She helped her husband farm near Gladstone raising chickens and selling eggs for many years. Later she worked as a sales clerk for Korbel Drugs. Her last retirement job was as a volunteer delivery driver for Meals on Wheels. After her marriage she joined the Zion Church near Gladstone and was active in Sunday School, served on the Church Council, and until recently was still active in the Women’s Fellowship. She was a charter member of the Live and Learn Extension Club where she served as the first President of the club. After experiencing health issues in July of 2012 she moved to Cedarwood Assisted Living and remained there for 6 years and then on to Gardenside in August 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Elmer (95) son Kenneth (83) daughter Joyce (2011). Brother Harold Jantzen and wife Ann, sister Linda and husband Lewis Champ, Sister Elsie and husband Howard Barnard and Sister in law Elda Jantzen. She is survived by daughters Karen Houseman and husband Dean of Conroe, Texas, Nancy Vincent and husband Gary of Orange, Texas, son Jerry Dux and wife Chris of Fairbury. Grandchildren, Jason Houseman of Beaverton, Oregon, Rita Houseman of Vancouver, Washington, Jaime Henning and wife Carey Grell of Lincoln, Tyler Dux and Melissa McBride of Fairbury, Tanner Dux of McCook, Brittany and Dean Klotz of Bartley, Ne , Kascade Tollman and Quincy Burdick of Geneva, Emily Irwin and Drayton Riekenberg of Beatrice. Great grandchildren Moriah Neal, Alex Neal, Zephyr Dux, Finley Dux, Kennedy Dux and Henry Klotz and Baker Riekenberg. Brother Dale Jantzen of North Newton, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday, July 5 at 10 am at Zion Countryside Church in Gladstone with Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury. Casket Bearers: Randy Welsch, Cody Welsch, Darrel Banahan, Bruce Dux, Mike Dux, and Travis Banahan. Honorary Bearers: Steve Dux and Alan Dux. Interment at Zion Countryside Church Cemetery. Read More
