Michael E. Smith, 60 of Grand Island died unexpectedly, Monday, July 1, 2019. Celebration of Mike’s life will be 11 AM Saturday, July 6th at All Faiths Funeral Home. Dan Naranjo will officiate. Burial of ashes will be at a later date in the Sand Valley Cemetery near Callaway. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 5-7 PM Friday, July 5th at All Faiths Funeral Home. A memorial fund will be established in memory of Mike. Mike was born on July 31, 1958 at St. Paul, Nebraska the son of Edward and Dramy (Storch) Smith. He was raised and received his education, graduating from Grand Island Senior High class of 1976. On June 25, 1983 he married Penny Royer. This union was blessed with two children, Holly and Cooper. Mike was employed by H & H Distributing for 35 years. He was last employed with O’Hara Plumbing. He was a member of the Grand Island Rural Fire Department. He coached baseball and soccer. Some of his other enjoyments included golfing, flying airplanes, riding his motorcycle, watching NASCAR, and camping with friends. But what he cherished the most was spending time with his loved ones and friends. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Penny; daughter, Holly (Maxwell) Hengen of Grand Island; son, Cooper Smith of Scottsdale, Arizona; his three sisters, Cindy Smith of Lugano, Switzerland, Jana McDonough of Fremont and Laura (Craig) Schwieger of Casper, WY; mother-in-law, Joan Royer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill (Laverne) Royer, Peri (Johnny) McLendon, Nathan (Jessica) Royer, Pam Crawley, Peggy Royer, Patti Royer, Paula (Jeff) Kral and Priscilla (Eric) LeCaptain; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and Mike’s four legged companions, TJ, Binx and Winston.
