Melvin “Sonny” Duffell, 69, of Columbus died Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Columbus Hospice House. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, July 29, 2019 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral with a private interment at Parkhill Cemetery. Melvin was born in Opp, Alabama son of the late Leon Clyde Duffell and Laura Louise Blocker Duffell. He worked as a mechanic all of his life, loved his work, NASCAR, hunting, fishing and was an avid Alabama Football fan. Survivors include his wife of 32 years Patsy Donahoo Duffell of Columbus, children Gina Parker (Robert) of Baker, Fl., Chad Duffell, John Duffell both of Opp, Al., James Foster, III (Barbara) of Columbus, Ga., brother Wayne Duffell (Ann) of Chula, Ga., sister Beth Carnley of Opp, Al., eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren and other family members.
