She was born to Frank and Angeline Deters on January 23, 1937, in Sauk Centre, MN. She was the oldest of 9 children and grew up on the family farm where she learned to work hard, respect others and to love God. She graduated high school and then met the love of her life, Larry, in 1954 and they were married September 7, 1959. They moved to St. Paul, MN, and started their family. After the birth of twins in 1962 and now having four children under the age of 2, they suddenly found themselves needing a bigger home to raise their children in, so they moved to Blaine, MN. They had two more children and raised them there until 1972 when they decided to move the family to Cedar, MN, where they built a home and continued raising their 6 children. After their children had all graduated high school and had moved on to start lives of their own, they decided to move back to Anoka, MN and still feeling that they had a lot of love to share, they started bringing foster children into their home. Over the course of 12 years, they gave their love to more than 170 children. In 1991, they decided to retire to Pequot Lakes, MN and still feeling that they weren’t quite done sharing their love of family, they adopted 2 of the children that they had fostered and now, they felt that their family was complete. They continued living in the Pequot Lakes area until 2015 when they decided to give senior apartment living a try. They moved to St. Anthony, MN where they lived for two years before decided to move back to the Brainerd Lakes area. In April, 2017, they moved into Edgewood Vista in Brainerd, MN, and quickly made many new friends and found themselves busy with all of the activities and fun outings that were offered there. They lived out their lives there surrounded by many staff and friends that loved them dearly. Mary devoted her life to serving God and family. She was very involved with church activities, enjoyed playing bingo with her many friends and family at Edgewood Vista, watching the Twins, fishing, quilting and she especially loved being with family and friends. She will be missed by many. Mary is survived by her children: Brad (Kathy) Moser, Wendy (Tony) Fyle, Shelly (Jay) Myers, Sherry (Ron) Kruse, Jeff (Chris) Moser, Greg (Carleen) Moser, Sarah Rubel, Travis (Kelly) Moser; sister, Rita Bona; brothers: John (Joann) Deters, Tom (Sharon) Deters, Jim Deters, Mike Deters, Gene Deters; 19 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry; sister, Donna Deters; brother, Dick Deters; and grandson, Jordan Moser.
