Mary’s Obituary Mary Frances Grissom of Vilonia, Arkansas, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2019, At Arkansas Hospice in St. Vincent Hospital at Little Rock following the sudden onset of acute myeloid leukemia. Born in Center Ridge on March 17, 1946, to William Arthur Andrews and Alice Naomi Johnson Andrews, raised in Oppelo and lived her entire life in central Arkansas. Mary studied dietetic and worked in food service for four decades, first at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in Morrilton and then at Conway Regional Hospital. She took great pride in her work and was a valued employee until her retirement in October 2016. Mary loved listening to good country music, included the songs of Vern Gosdin and George Jones. She considered herself lucky to have married into a family of talented musicians who fostered her love of music. They even encouraged her to sing, which she enjoyed immensely. There was no need for a microphone when she belted out a Kitty Wells tune. Those who were blessed to know Mary will remember her feisty spirit, her strong work ethic, and her self-sacrificing nature. She valued her family and friends and above herself and always placed their needs first. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Nina Mooney and Nora Jones. She is survived by her husband Jimmy Ray Grissom and the wonderful Grissom clan, two daughters, Angie Saunders (Darryl) and Tammy McMillen (Mickey); four grandchildren, Mason and Braden McMillen, Kasey McMillen Young, and Chad Saunders; three brothers, Johnny, Frank, and Hervey Andrews; one sister, Lucille McCoy; her best friend, Nelda Grissom; the father of her children, Carl Ed Grabher; and numerous extended family members. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Bob Neal and Sons Funeral Home in Morrilton. A graveside service will be held at Carter Cemetery on Hwy 36 in Vilonia at 10:00 a.m. Friday, on July 5, 2019.
