Marvin’s Obituary Marvin R. “Butch” Davis, 74, of Decatur, IL, passed away on July 25, 2019 after a brave battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be Monday, July 29, 2019, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, IL. Butch was born on February 7, 1945, in Decatur, IL, the son of August Davis and Naomi (Fisher Davis) Brazle. He married the love of his life Joyce (Coverstone) Davis, who he affectionately called “Blondie” on July 28, 1968. They shared 51 years of wonderful memories. Butch proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He retired from Caterpillar after 35 years. Butch enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. They were his pride and joy and he loved bragging on them all. Butch truly valued his large family and friends. He was blessed to have best friend Darrell Sowers for 74 years. He was always the first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and never met a stranger. Butch spent his retirement camping, building, and fixing things. He was so happy watching the Cubs win the World Series. Butch always had a joke or funny story to share with anyone around, even during his illness. He is survived by his wife Joyce of Decatur; children Jody Luttrell and husband John of Forsyth, IL, Stacey Mooney and husband Howard of Decatur, Joe Davis and wife Jessica of Clayton, NC; grandchildren Brittany Jenkins and husband Tyler, Madison & Howie Mooney, Grey, Marie, Anna, & Abby Davis, Jordan Ludwig and husband Jamie, Johnny Luttrell; sisters Barbara, Pam & Beverly; brothers Steve & Mike. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, 4 brothers, and 1 sister. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Kairouz, Dr. Kola, St. Mary’s ICU nurses, and pulmonary/ cardiac rehab staff for all their loving care given to Butch. Read More
