January 7 1955 July 14 2019 (age 64)
Marvin H. Gilster, 64, of Nampa, Idaho, died on July 14, 2019 while in Williston, North Dakota. Marvin was born on January 7, 1955 in West Point, Nebraska to Harold Gilster and Lillie (Beckmann) Gilster. They were of German decent. He was raised on a farm with the rest of his siblings until 1965. He actually went to a one-room (all grade) school. In 1965 his family moved to Dakota City, NE. Shortly after, when he was 12, his father died of lung cancer. His mother raised the kids alone. Marvin met Geraldine Malach at their church, Walter League, as young teenagers. They were married on August 24, 1974 in South Sioux City, NE, where they lived for few years. In February 1977, during a snow storm, they ventured out with his older brother and their family to Nampa, ID. Once they moved to Idaho, Marvin and his brother continued working for Iowa Beef Processing (IBP), a meat packing/slaughter house here in Idaho. He worked there for 32 years. On February 27, 1990 after being married over 16 years, they were finally blessed with their son, Jake, their long awaited miracle. IBP closed down around 2009. He began working for his nephew, Garold Gilster in the landscaping business in Nampa, and then traveled to work in Williston, ND from late spring to early fall. At 64 he was “almost” still keeping up with the 20 & 30 year olds. Marvin was a loving and caring husband. He was a hard worker, always providing for his family. He would help anyone who needed it with money or his talents. Marvin was a good Christian and role model for us all. He loved Jesus and knew his salvation came from Him alone. He read his Bible all the way through many times in his life and had his daily morning devotions with God, as his mom taught him to do since he was a little boy. He had a personal relationship with God and prayed about everything. He was not ashamed of the Gospel and shared it with everyone he met, especially to his co-workers during the years while working in North Dakota. Marvin will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Geri of almost 46 years, in Nampa ID; One son, Jake (Alexa) Gilster, Nampa ID; 2 brothers, Darold (Marietta) Gilster, Kamiah, ID and Richard (Tara) Gilster, Lawton, IA; 2 sisters, Geraldine (Delwin) Peterson, Lyons, NE and Lynette (Gerry) Kroeger, Hinton, IA; his brother-in-law, David (MaryAnn) Malach, Melbourne Beach, FL and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, as well as many friends and church friends. Flowers may be sent to Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, 415 12th Ave. So, Nampa 83686 208-442-8171. The family suggests that memorial donations may be given to Zion Lutheran Church-School, 404 Nectarine St., Nampa, Idaho 83686.
