Marilyn’s Obituary Marilyn Kay McCain, age 74, of Warsaw, MO, went to her heavenly home Sunday evening, June 30, 2019, at Bothwell Regional Care Center in Sedalia, MO. She was born on August 2, 1944, in Springfield, MO, the daughter of Gerald and Louise Barefield Thurman. Her father was a US Army Air Force pilot during World War II and was shot down during a mission over the English Channel on August 12, 1944. Her father knew of her birth but never met his daughter. In 1946, she became Marilyn Reser and was lovingly raised by her parents, John and Louise Reser, along with her two sisters, Shawn and LuAnne. Marilyn graduated from Warsaw High School in 1962 and in 1964; she received a Liberal Arts Degree from Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, MO. On February 14, 1965, she was united in marriage to Doug McCain at the Warsaw United Methodist Church. For a short time, they made their home in Warrensburg, MO, later moving to Lincoln, MO. Unto this union, four children were born, DeAnna, Kevin, Kerri and Chris. Marilyn was a devoted mother, always putting her children first. MeMe and MeMe G, as she was known to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was a woman they admired for her strength and wisdom and she was proud of each one of them. Her sense of humor and wit brought smiles and laughter to all who knew her. Marilyn had a strong faith and a desire to help others. It was her relationship with Jesus that got her though many days as she fought her illness. She was member of the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw, the Wesley Sunday School Class, a board member of the Warsaw High School Alumni Association, and the Benton County Cancer Fund. She enjoyed music of the 50’s and 60’s, reading, and was an avid bridge and card player who enjoyed many hours playing cards with her friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Doug, and three nephews, Mike, Terry and Tracy McCain. Surviving is her children, Deanna Cogdill of Lincoln, MO, Kevin McCain (Roseann) of Miami, OK, Kerri McCain (Ben) of Cole Camp, MO and Chris McCain of Warsaw, 8 grandchildren, Miranda, Kyle, Michelle, Taylor D., Cheyenne, Taylor Marie, Jacob and Chase, four great-grandchildren, Kloey, Ellie, Bubby and Gunner. Also surviving are two sisters, Shawn Miller (Jim) of Warsaw and LuAnne Holmes (Lonnie) of Blue Springs, MO, a sister-in-law, Donna (David) Roberts of Warrensburg, MO, several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends whom she dearly loved. Funeral Services will be Friday, July 5, 2019 at 3:30 P.M, at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral services starting at 2:30 P.M. Interment will follow the funeral at the Shawnee Cemetery in Warsaw. Family suggest memorials may be made to the Warsaw School Alumni Association or the charity of your choice. Read More
