Maria (Kata) Lach, 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Baystate Medical Center, with her loving family at her side. Born in Kamien, Poland on February 2, 1928, daughter of the late Michael and Salomea (Majka) Kata, she was a communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus, Bishop & Martyr. Family was of most importance to Maria, and her cooking and gardening skills were always enjoyed by all. Maria was predeceased in 1991 by her beloved husband, Jozef Lach, and is survived by her loving children, Jozef Lach and wife Alina of Chicopee, Wladyslawa Niewinski and husband Tadeusz of Chicopee, and Stanislaw Lach and wife Krystyna, Teresa Lach and husband Tadeusz, Irena Sudol and husband Ryszard, and Maria Chmura, all of Poland; several cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister, Jozefa Gancarz of Brimfield. She was predeceased by her brothers, Stanislaw and Jan Kata. Funeral services for Maria will be held Wednesday at 9AM from Kozikowski Funeral Home, 565 Front St. Chicopee, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Stanislaus Basilica. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4-7PM.
