Louetta Griffith Stamey, 77, of Asheville, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2019, at Care Partners Solace Center in Asheville. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Vera Hughes Griffith, and the wife of the late William Keith Stamey. She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Kimberly Leah Hallman. Louetta was a teacher’s assistant and drove a school bus for Oakley Elementary School. Surviving are a son: William M. Stamey and wife, Dawn; a daughter: Kelley L. Tsika and husband Thomas; seven grandchildren: Lauren and Madison Stamey, Jake and Kadie Tsika, Chloe and Daniel Hillman and Shelby Marquardt and husband Cody; son-in-law: Ben Hallman and two brothers: Jerry Griffith and wife, Dianne, and David Griffith and wife, Linda. A memorial service will be held at 6PM Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at Reynolds Baptist Church, of which she was a member. Rev. Bobby Smith will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 PM Tuesday, prior to the service at the church.
