Lonnie’s Obituary Lonnie Simonds, 75, of Marietta, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2019. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 6th at 4:00PM in the chapel of Marietta Funeral Home. Mr. Simonds was an avid musician and a member of the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame. He retired from Lockheed as an aircraft technician. He also made use of his mechanical abilities at home where he would restore classic cars. He was a very outgoing man and never met a stranger. He loved spending time with friends and was known to pull a practical joke from time to time. Mr. Simonds is survived by his wife of 56 years, DiAnn Smith Simonds; daughter, Lori (Jerry) Anderson; son, Chris (Michelle) Simonds; sister, Brenda Simonds; grandchildren, Valori Cassel, Tyler Cassel, Kane Anderson, Scott Simonds, Sara Simonds, Cameron Simonds, Amy Simonds, and Colt Anderson; great grandchildren, Ragen Cassel, Evelyn Cassel, and Gunner Simonds; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2:00PM to 4:00PM on Saturday prior to the service at Marietta Funeral Home. Donations may be made in Mr. Simonds name to The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
