Lila’s Obituary Lila A. Ehlke (nee Bennett), 90 of Elyria died June 29, 2019. She was born September 4, 1928 in Elyria and was a 1946 graduate of Elyria High School. She then graduated from Oberlin Business College and was employed as a legal secretary for the Lorain County Clerk of Courts. Lila attended Lorain County Community College where she received an associates degree followed by a Bachelor of Arts from Oberlin College. She began her teaching career in the Elyria Public Schools at Gates and Jefferson Elementary Schools retiring in 1995 and while teaching earned a Masters Degree from Oberlin College. She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ and a former member and president of American Association of University Women. Lila enjoyed playing bridge, reading, movies and had traveled extensively. Lila is survived by her daughter, Kristine (Rick) Lawrence and a son, Jon Ehlke both of Elyria; grandchildren, Matthew (Rebecca) Lawrence, Kali Lawrence and Elizabeth and Ian Ehlke; great grandchildren, Ava and Ryland “Bubba” Lawrence; sister, Hilma J. Farmer of Elyria and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of twenty nine years, Richard A. Ehlke in 1979; parents, Russell and Ragnhild Bennett and a brother, William Bennett. Friends will be received Friday July 5, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A service will be Saturday July 6, 2019 at 11:00 AM in First Congregational United Church of Christ, 330 Second Street, Elyria with Reverend Patrick Nicolino officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Lorain County Community College Foundation, Richard A.
