Leslie “Joe”‘s Obituary HURLBURT, Leslie (Joe) Lamont Jr. of Burton, age 91, died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on July 12, 2019. He was born on July 9, 1928 to Leslie Lamont Sr & Emma Hurlburt in Petoskey, MI. Joe married Helen Argue on August 31, 1957 in Flint, MI. He worked at General Motors ”Chevy in the Hole” for 30 years, retiring in 1980. He proudly answered his country’s call and served in the Army and Merchant Marines during the Korean Conflict. Joe was a hard working family man and was always busy with many hobbies which included, wood working, gardening, small engines, sharpening chainsaw & blades. He enjoyed hunting with his son, son-in-laws and grandsons up to 80 years old. Joe was a devoted husband & father. Everything he did was for his family. He is survived by wife of 61 years, Helen Hurlburt. Children, Debbie (Keith) Gibson, Dawn Hurlburt, Denise (Dave) Jones, Leslie Gibson, Cindy (Paul) McCallum, Joseph (Brenda) Hurlburt, Helen (Steven) Harris, Jessica (Ted) Abraham and Sylvian Cogan, 30 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and sister, Mary. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, & siblings, Howard, Lillian, Hazel and Elizabeth, 2 grandchildren, Celeste Hope and Jacob Berrier and sons-in-laws, Steve Wiederhold and Dave Gibson. Our family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff on the 2nd floor at Kith Haven Nursing Home & Ascension Genesys Hospital ‘2 South Acute’ for the loving & compassionate care given to dad & our family. A Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Greg Rowan officiating. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday, July 15 from 2:00-8:00pm and on Tuesday from 12:00pm until the time of service. Burial, with Military Honors will take place at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the VFW Post 2777, Burton, MI.
