Laura “Babe” (Peterpaul) O’Connell, 94, of Sayre, PA passed away on July 4, 2019 peacefully at home. She was born on July 15, 1924, the daughter of the late Michael and Victoria (Corbo) Peterpaul.   Laura was predeceased by her husband Robert J. O’Connell in 1966, her brother and sister-in-law Jeremiah and Kay Peterpaul, sister and brother-in-law Hortense (Tansy) and Frank Ennis, sister and brother-in-law Leona and Thomas O’Leary, sister Matilda Peterpaul, and son-in-law Xavier Chatard.    Her memory will forever be cherished in the lives of  her eight children: Anne (Richard) Umbrecht of Villanova, PA; Mary (Daryl) Rich of Sayre, PA; Barbara O’Connell of Eurre, France; Jean O’Connell Jenkins of Pittsburgh, PA; Ellen O’Connell Benedetto of Pittsburgh, PA; Robert (Pat) O’Connell of Baltimore, MD; Elizabeth O’Connell of Washington, DC; and Nancy (Robert) Beardsley of Waverly, NY; her grandchildren, Brian (Colleen) Rich, Lauren (Bryan) Rudloff, Richard Umbrecht, Laura Umbrecht, Michael Umbrecht, Jack O’Connell, Danny O’Connell, Taylor Jenkins, and Lucas Beardsley; her five great-grandchildren, Ava and Alex Rich and Colton, Brynn and Luke Rudloff, together with a host of beloved nieces, nephews, friends, and her devoted caregiver, Komba Keita.    Laura’s family will receive friends on Sunday July 7, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  at Alteri-Bowen Funeral Home, 314 Desmond Street, Sayre. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday July 8, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Burial immediately following at St. James Cemetery, Waverly, NY.    Laura’s family asks that memorial contributions be made in her name to Sayre Public Library, 122 South Elmer Avenue, Sayre, PA 18840.  Memories and condolences may be expressed by visiting www.bowenfuneralhomes.com   To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Laura Elizabeth “Babe” O’Connell please visit our Sympathy Store.
