Larry’s Obituary Funeral Services for Larry D. “Butch” Everett will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Nora Mendyk officiating. Following the traditional funeral, cremation will take place and inurnment will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege, with Military Honors conducted by the Martin-Horn American Legion Post #66 in conjunction with the United States Navy Funeral Honors Team. Larry Dale “Butch” Everett, 73 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Butch was born August 6, 1945 and was adopted and lovingly cared by Robert and Ethel (Shively) Everett. He received his education from Holdrege Public Schools. Butch enjoyed waking up early to watch the morning television shows and spent many hours fishing with his brother Dennis. Following his education, Butch enlisted into the United States Army on January 28, 1964 and later transferred to the Navy at the United States Naval Receiving Station on Treasure Island, near San Francisco Bay, California. He served aboard the USS Twining (DD-540), a Fletcher-class destroyer. On February 4, 1965, he was honorably discharged. Butch devoted his career advocating for Veterans Assistance. He was a member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America and advocated before Congress, for their rights. Butch always enjoyed Elvis, not only listening to music but he enjoyed receiving “off-the-wall” gifts that Elvis is incorporated into. He also enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters. He was preceded in death by; his parents; three sisters: Sue Carol Everett in infancy; Roberta Senyard; and Donna Ganser and husband, Charles D. Ganser; three brothers: Roger Everett; Don Everett; and David L. Everett; two sisters-in-law: Janet Faber; and Beverly Everett. Butch is survived by; his brother; Dennis Senyard and his wife, Paulette of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two sisters: Pat Beck; and Tami Ekberg and her husband, Steve, all of Holdrege; one sister-in-law, JoAnn Everett of Holdrege; two granddaughters: Jordan Fulton and Jillian Muscato; along with a host of cousins; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 5, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. A memorial has been established in Butch’s honor, and kindly suggested to the Paralyzed Veterans of America or other Veterans organizations of the donor’s choice.
