Kien’s Obituary Kien Chi Phan, 43, died tragically during vacation with his family on July 2, 2019. As a father of six he leaves his loving family; wife Lori Phan and children: son Brandon Brock 22 and five daughters, Siona Leigh 13, Catherine Cozette 12, Elleandra Hayden 10, Samantha Jayden 5 and Penelope Dylilah 3. Kien is also survived by his parents, father David Quach Phan and mother Helen Boi Tran. He leaves three siblings and their families; brother Hao Chi Phan, sister Jenny Ngo and fiance QA Tran and brother and family Kiet Chi Phan, wife Jeanne Phan, son Kaiden Joseph Phan 5 and daughter Madeline Rose Phan 3. As a graduate of Berkner High School in Richardson, Texas, he leaves friends he truly loved and admired for over 20 years. The Goons: Salena Brody, Michael Grauer, Dr. Leland Hu, Jerry Ou, Dr. Mitul Sheera, and David Smith were truly treasured. Kien was born in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. He and his family immigrated to the United States in 1979 and resided in the Richardson area. Kien graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a Bachelors of Arts in Philosophy. It was in Austin he started his technology career. Kien was a Software Engineering Architect at IBM when he died. Kien started his family in Garland, Texas where they lived for eleven years before relocating to Wylie, Texas and lived as an active member in the community for the last four years. As a dedicated and loving father, Kien was very active in the lives of his children and was a Girl Scout Dad, Whitt Watch D.O.G. and frequenter of Daddy/Daughter Dances. Kien was often referred to as an Uber as he drove his children and their friends all over town for hangouts. Kien was often a chaperone with his children and their friends to playdates at many local parks, pools and birthday parties. Kien was a father supporting of his children’s dreams and could be seen all over DFW taking his daughter to modeling and acting classes and auditions.
