Katie’s Obituary Ms. Katie Mae Cox passed from this life on July 12, 2019 in Winnfield, Louisiana. She was born to the union of Samuel and Clora (Batey) Walters. She was a sweet spirited soul to all who knew her. She was a devoted church worker and loved her Lord, and church family, Old Union Baptist Church. She very much enjoyed good gospel music. She loved all of her family dearly, as she never forgot a birthday, anniversary, or any other special day in the life of one of her family members. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, especially for her family, holiday gatherings, and Christmas being her favorite holiday. She loved to work with her flowers, and in recent years developed a love for Bingo. Those left to cherish her memory are her children David Morse, Jr. (Nancy), Sammy Morse, Susan Atwell (Mike), seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children David Alton Morse, Sr., mother and father Samuel and Clora (Batey) Walters, stepmother Sarah Ann Jones, daughter Peggy (Morse) Rojo, sister Ruby Brown, and her second husband Crockett James Cox. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Richard Morse, Jeremy Morse, Rhett Morse, James Morse, Robbie Blackman, and Christopher Atwell. Visitation will be held at Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield, Louisiana on Saturday July 13, 2019 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM. Visitation will resume on Sunday from 2:00PM until service time at 3:00PM in Old Union Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday July 14, 2019 at 3:00PM in Old Union Baptist Church in Joyce, Louisiana with Rev. Rayford Higgs and Rev. Sammy Morrow officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield, Louisiana. Read More
