Kathleen’s Obituary Longtime Chelsea resident, Kathy passed away Monday evening July 15th in the peaceful surroundings of her home, surrounded by her loving and caring family after a sudden and brief illness. Kathy was born in Brighton, a daughter of Kathleen W. (Webb) Needham and the late Owen F. Needham, Sr. She was raised in Hyannis where she participated in the 4-H Club as a young girl and attended schools on Cape Cod. She was graduated from Barnstable High School and enrolled in Cape Cod Community College receiving her Associates Degree in business. She worked for 15 years as a ticket agent, beginning with Air Lingus and later with US Airways. In her lifetime Kathy enjoyed time at the beaches on Cape Cod, family gatherings, traveling and shopping. Kathy lived with Multiple Sclerosis for the past 30 years, her condition did not overshadow her zest for life, living as an inspiration to all who knew her. She was the beloved wife of Robert F. Spinney, Jr. and devoted mother of Robert F. Spinney, III of Charlestown and his fiancée Alexa Carley. Loving daughter of Kathleen W. (Webb) Needham of Centerville and the late Owen F. Needham, Sr. Dear sister of Patricia Hardy and her husband Phil of Franklin, Owen F. Needham, Jr and his wife Dorothy of Centerville, James Needham of Osterville, Laureen Needham of Centerville, Dee Needham of Delray Beach, FL and Sean Needham and his wife Wende of Orchard Park. Loving niece of Walter Webb of Ludlow and Jack Needham of Stoneham. Dear daughter-in-law of Margaret Spinney of Chelsea and the late Robert F. Spinney, Sr., sister-in-law of Cheryl and Bobby Lombardi of Peabody, Joanne Simonelli of Lynnfield and her late husband Louis, III. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members. ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting Hours will be held in the Frank A. Welsh & Sons Funeral Home 718 Broadway CHELSEA on Friday July 19 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend. Funeral from the Welsh Funeral Home on Saturday at 9:00 AM, followed by a funeral mass at Our Lady of Grace Church 59 Nichols St. Chelsea at 10:00 A.M. Services will conclude with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Funeral home fully handicap accessible, ample parking opposite funeral home.
