A Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Julia Mae Butler of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2019 will be held on Saturday, July 20th, 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of College Hill, 3838 N. 29th Street, Dr. S. Evan Burrows, officiating. The interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Julia Mae Butler was born to Ernest Hall and Minnie Brown in Dublin, Georgia on November 5, 1927, She was the oldest of 3 children. Her life was a living example of her favorite bible verse: Ephesians 4:32, Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Julia was preceded in death by her father, Ernest, her mother Minnie, her sons, James and Jeffery, and her daughters, Geraldine and Joan. She is survived by her brother, Ernest, sister, Mary; five children, David and Jaunita Johnson (FL); Elder Gerald Green (FL), Doris Humphries (GA), Janiece Golden (FL), and Julzell Butler (FL), her Hickey children, Diane, Linda, Michael, John, Suzanne, and Patrick, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, and great great great-grandchildren, of which she knew all by name; her very best friends, Elizabeth Wynn, Margie Nickerson, and Creola Morgan as well as a host of other family and friends across the world. Julia was a woman with a vibrant spirit, a strong personality, and a flair for fashion like no other. No ensemble was complete without the right shoes, handbag, jewelry, and of course the hat. She was always sure to be “picture ready” when she went anywhere, showing the world in her words “Who I am”. Her flair for fashion and her ability to bring light to any room became the signatures that all her children followed. The visitation will be held at Aikens funeral home on Friday, July 19th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. The family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
