Joyce’s Obituary Joyce Buck Swearingen, age 86, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, July 5, 2019 at the Trinity Worship Center with Rev. Ronnie Shoffner officiating. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 PM on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Johnson Funeral Home. Joyce was born on June 6, 1933 at Eldorado, OK to Luther Henry and Mary Eveline (Turvaville) Wefer. She was a wonderful cook, and was known by many for her Banana Bread that she made and gave away to lots of people in the community. A giving person, she loved helping others and would give the shirt off her back if someone needed it. She was a wonderful Christian lady who loved her church and her church family. Above all else, she was a family-oriented woman who loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Clarence Wefer and Donald Wefer; daughter, Mary Kilgo; granddaughter, Jerine Patterson; and husbands, D.C. Buck and Gene Swearingen. Survivors include daughter, Dewanda Votaw; son, James Votaw; granddaughters, Canica Cravey and Caila Patterson; grandson, Kris Henson; and several extended family and friends.
