Jose passed away peacefully at St. Michael’s Hospital on Monday, July 22, 2019, at the age of 89 years. He was born in Marco de Canaveses, Portugal and came to the United States in 1974, arriving in Newark, and resided in Union, NJ. Jose worked as a Foreman building dams in Portugal and as a carpenter and construction worker in New Jersey. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Fabiana, son Manuel, daughters Maria Madalena, Arminda, and Ana, 8 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Jose ’s life will be held at the Buyus Funeral Home, 426 Lafayette Street, Newark, NJ. 07105 on Thursday, July 25 from 6-8 pm He will later be flown to Portugal for funeral mass and burial. The Funeral Mass for Jose will be held in Portugal at Igreja Matriz de Penhalonga, Avenida Doutor Miranda da Rocha, Penhalonga Marco de Canaveses.
