John H. Thompson, 60, of Avon Park, passed away at his home on Monday, July 22, 2019. He was born April 24, 1959 to Bill and Kylene (Williams) Thompson and was a life long resident of Avon Park. After graduating from Avon Park High School in 1977 he joined the Army National Guard. He was a welder and fabricator by trade. He helped coach girls softball, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and belonged to the “Olympic Club”. John found great joy in being with everyone of his grandchildren and at the Williams Fish Camp. He would give you the shirt off his back and his family always came first. He is survived by his daughters, Christina (Josh) Myers and Billie Jean (Micah) Lee; sister, Fran Thompson; brother, James (Debbie) Thompson; grandchildren, Hailey, Hollie, Natalie, Arlin, Kristen, John, Eli and Violet; and many extended family members. Visitation will be on Thursday evening, July 25, 2019 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Avon Park. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 26, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Avon Park.
