John H. Beck, 72, of Tallahassee, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2019 at the Big Bend Hospice House. He was the son of the late Jim Beck and the late Bonnie Millikan Cox, and was born in Muncie, Indiana on October 11, 1946. He was an attorney and marine who served in Vietnam, earning two purple hearts. John loved storytelling, cats, dogs, fast cars, and his bourbon neat. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Katherine Gutting Beck; children, Carmen Trammell (husband, Wilson), Kelbe Beck, Andrew Beck, Maxine Beck, John Sharples, Aaron Sharples (wife, Susie) and Wayne Sharples; grandchildren, Marty Trammell, Emma Trammell, Talbot Trammell, Stella Sharples, Marian Sharples and Blaire Sharples. His stepfather, Preston Cox and stepmother, Harriet Beck; stepsisters, Ginger Wade and Nancy Montgomery and stepbrothers, John Beck and Jim Beck. Also surviving are his in-laws, Robert and Vivian Gutting; his goddaughter, Nekeshier Wattley (husband, Stephen) and their children Nikki Gauss and Cheyenne Gauss. On to Valhalla. Semper Fi!
