Joe Ann Steinheil Burnett, age 77, of Watson, AR passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2019 in Dermott, Arkansas. Joe Ann was born on January 5, 1942 in Aplin, Arkansas to the late Edward Richard and Mary Julia Harkins Steinheil. She moved to Desha County when she was a little girl with her parents. She played basketball at Desha Central, where she graduated in 1959. Playing basketball is how she met Olen Burnett. Joe Ann and Olen married November 15, 1959. She was a housewife, a mother and a Baptist. She worked a few years at the glove factory at Dermott. In June 1980, she graduated nursing school as an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) from Great Rivers Vo-Tech in McGehee. Her career as a nurse began at McGehee-Desha County Hospital, where she worked for 19 years. She continued her career as an infirmary Nurse at Arkansas Department of Corrections. She worked at Dermott Regional and Varner Units. She retired in 2014. Joe Ann had a strong love for being a nurse, to help people and worked hard to always do her best. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 44 years, Jesse Olen Burnett. She is survived by 2 children: a son, William Burnett (Little Joe) and a daughter, Mary Burnett Linely, both of Rohwer, AR; 4 grandchildren: Chathan Burnett (Kelli) of Broken Arrow, OK; Jessica Ann-Marie Linely of Dumas, AR; Jonathan Hunter Linely and Macy Katherine-Elizabeth Chaney, both of Rohwer, AR; a brother, Richard Steinheil (Linda) of Muskogee, OK; a great grandson, Tayten Malloy of Broken Arrow, OK; 6 nieces; 6 nephews and many more family members and friends. Joe Ann had many friends and cherished memories from the different places she worked. She felt blessed to have made memories with her children and grandchildren. She had a strong deep Faith in God. Visitation will be held at 5:00-7:00pm on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, AR.
