James Terry Pipkin, 68, of Johnson City passed away at his home Tuesday, July 16, 2019. James proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a dedicated member at Walnut Christian Church. James loved the UT Vols and was a season ticket holder for many years, he enjoyed coaching little league baseball, and loved spending time with his family. James was preceded in death by his first wife, Harriet, followed by his wife Sharon, and father James Louis Pipkin. Those left to cherish his memory include his mother Reba Qualls Pipkin, sons; Brian Pipkin (Jennifer), James Pipkin, sister; Nancy Carver (Danny), brothers; Phillip Pipkin (Dianna), William Pipkin (Bobby), grandchildren; Kali, Kara, Kasi, Braelyn, Aiden, James Jr., and Lily Pipkin, brothers-in-law; Robbie and Rev. Calvin Draffin (Libby), along with several nieces. The Pipkin family will honor James’ life with a Graveside Service at Mountain Home National Cemetery on Monday July 22, 2019 beginning at 10:00 am with Tyler Paulsen officiating, Carter Co. Honor Guard will render military honors. A Gathering of Remembrance to follow at Walnut Christian Church. All those who wish to attend the service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Services in Johnson City by 9:30 am for a procession led by the Dog Tag Brigade Veteran MC. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made in James’ memory to Walnut Christian Church, 2318 S. Greenwood Dr. Johnson City TN, 37604.
