Allen, Sr., quietly slipped into eternal rest on Friday, March 1, 2017, in Wheaton, MD. Born June 27, 1937, in Danville, VA, he was the son of the late Bernard N. Allen, Sr. and Lillie F. Allen. He was married to the late Clara Mae Tate Allen. He leaves to cherish his memory two devoted sons, James L. Allen, Jr. (Adrienne) and Reginald F. Allen (Kisha); four grandsons, James L. Allen, III, Joshua R. Allen, Jeremiah S. Allen and Jamal K. Adams; one granddaughter, Camryn N. Allen; one sister, Patricia L. Allen; three sisters-in-law, Bonnie Allen, Bobbie Cooper (Jack) and Martha Warren (Cline); one brother-in-law, James Tate (Elizabeth); nieces and nephews, Felecia Allen, Victor Cooper, Cheryl Cooper (Gina), Sonya Sheppard (Will), Jennifer Jones, James Tate, Angela Tate, Rella Rosboro, Jr. (LaTonya) and a host of other relatives and friends. A Service of Interment will be conducted on Saturday, August 3, 2019, in Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Dr. George Wilson, Officiating. Fisher and Watkins Funeral Home is assisting the Allen family.
