Hazel M. Szafran, 90, of Hudson, NY passed away Sunday July 28, 2019. Born October 3, 1928 in Hudson, she is the daughter of William and Ethel (Austin) Lansing. Hazel retired from the Hudson City School District after 20 years in food service. A lifelong resident of Hudson, she was also a member of the Hudson Elks Lodge Ladies Auxiliary. Hazel loved to be around her family and her many friends. She enjoyed dancing, bingo, and bus trips to the Casino. Left to cherish her memory include three sons, Paul Szafran of Hudson, NY, Bruce Szafran of Greensboro, NC, Richard Szafran of Huntersville, NC, and daughter Lynn Szafran of Hudson, NY. Hazel is also survived by her sister Betty Sigler, 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, Hazel was predeceased by her husband Paul J. Szafran, and siblings William Lansing, Clara Lansing, Patricia Snyder, and Edna Beecher. Funeral services from the Bates & Anderson-Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home are Friday August 2nd at 1:00pm. Visitation hours at the funeral home are Thursday evening from 4-7pm.
