Harriet Eleanor (Jorgenson) Diehm was received into her heavenly home on July 21, 2019 at Marliere Hospice Care Center in New Port Richey, Fl. Harriet was born on March 28, 1918 in Camp Release (Montevideo), MN, the child of Engebret J Jorgenson and Elise M (Erlandson) Jorgenson. On March 21, 1918 she received the gift of Holy Baptism and became a child of God. On June 26, 1932, Harriet publicly confessed her faith and was confirmed at St. Petri Lutheran Church, Lac qui Parle, MN. She grew up on a farm in rural Minnesota with seven brothers and one sister. She graduated from Montevideo High School on May 29, 1936 and from Fairview Hospital School of Nursing (Registered Nurse) on September 10, 1940. On May 23, 1949, (Seattle, WA) Harriet received from God the gift of a beloved companion in marriage in her spouse, Jacob William Diehm. Together they were blessed with the gift of two children, Susan and Sharon. Harriet served in the US Navy as a nurse (Lieutenant) during WWII. (3/31/1942 – 12/24/1945 & 10/24/1946 – 06/14/1949). She then spent the next years raising two daughters; worked as a nurse while Jake went to college in Grand Rapids MI, was very active in church activities; was an active member of Lutheran Women’s Missionary League for many years. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Grand Rapids, Michigan for 59 years. Jesus Christ was a very important part of Harriet & Jakes entire lives. Harriet & Jake spent many years in Bradenton Beach FL during the winters. Family was very important to Harriet & Jake and over the years much time was spent with the Jorgenson & Diehm families. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. We do not live lives that end in death; we die deaths that end in life. Harriet is at home with Jesus to rest in His arms to await the resurrection of the dead at His second coming. She is survived by her two daughters, Susan (Gary) Billow of Bradenton Beach, FL & Sharon (David) Cunningham of Zephyrhills, FL; one brother: Herbert (Jean) Jorgenson of Apple Valley, MN; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jacob W Diehm; six brothers: Rev. J. Obert (Esther Busness) Jorgenson, Kenneth Milford (Florence Martin) Jorgenson, Donald Spencer Jorgenson, Harlan Clayton (Dorothy Rottunda) Jorgenson, Robert Warren (Ruth Rottunda) Jorgenson & Alton Roger (Bernita Heieren) Jorgenson; and by her sister Evelyn Elvera (Francis L.) Winslow. Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord. Funeral services will be held 11:00AM on Tuesday July 30, 2019 at Grace Lutheran Church, 150 – 50th Street SW, Wyoming, MI 49548. Her family will greet relatives and friends Monday from 6 to 8PM at Stegenga Funeral Chapel-Wyoming, 3131 S. Division. Interment Chapel Hills Memorial Gardens.
