Mr. Harald John “Hal” “The Swede” Sorquist, age 79, of Decatur died Friday, July 5, 2019, at River City Center in Decatur, AL. His family will host a memorial service in Dover, OH this fall. Shelton Funeral Home is assisting with local arrangements. Mr. Sorquist, was born April 24, 1940, in Dover, OH to Herman Fredrik Sorquist and Ingeborg Linnea Lindberg Sorquist. He was preceded in death by his son, Erik Sorquist, and his parents. Mr. Sorquist was an engineer with TVA and worked at Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant on Unit 2, and started Unit 3. He worked in the Pilot, Initial, and Bechtel Groups until he was forced to retire due to deteriorating eyesight. He is survived by his loving wife, Ellie Sorquist of Decatur; and one son, Michael Sorquist (Terri) of Decatur.
